DPS: Suspect Stabbed 3 People to Death in San Saba
SAN SABA, TX – New details have emerged in the incident that resulted in the brutal murder of three people in San Saba. According to DPS the victims including a 13-year-old were stabbed to death.
According to KTXS, at approximately 4:30 a.m. San Saba deputies were dispatched to a home after an 18-year-old woman claimed she was one of four people who had been stabbed inside the house.
When officers arrived, they found a 62-year-old man a 44-year-old woman and the teenager dead. The caller was the only survivor at the scene and she is currently hospitalized in critical condition. The identity of the victims has not been released at this time, but the school confirmed the teen attended the middle school in San Saba.
According to officials, the suspect in the stabbing has been identified as a 22-year-old male. The suspect fled the scene moments after the stabbing in a car that belonged to one of the victims. He was chased by police for 20 miles and was apprehended in Goldthwaite after he crashed into a wall of a senior citizen center; no one was injured in the crash.
The suspect is currently being held in the Mills County Jail and it is unclear at this time what charges he faces. His identity has not been released as of this moment and it is unclear what his connection was to the victims or possible motives for the gruesome crime.
Superintendent Wayne Kelly of San Saba ISD described the stabbings as a “domestic situation” and stated he could not release more information on the incident.
The school will be offering counseling services, including a specialized team from San Angelo that will be assisting.
"It's hit us pretty hard, " said Kelly. "When there are only 200 kids in the junior high, they tend to know each other."
